Bon temps
The Carnival season is a celebration of excess preceding the fasting and penitence of Lent. It culminates on Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday and the start of the Lenten season.
Mardi Gras is a proud tradition in Mobile, one worth preserving through documentary photography. Jeff and Meggan Haller of Keyhole Photo relocated to Mobile in 2007 and immediately started their Mardi Gras project with the goal of documenting local history as it happens. Their project is a work in progress, and will be for years to come.
Take a look at this year's work at their Mardi Gras blog.
